A Designer's Home

Seagrove Beach, FL

This house is tailored for a successful young fashion designer. The backdrop is intentionally muted and monochromatic allowing for the client to experiment with fabrics, patterns and colors with the changing seasons. The house has good bones and the option to mix it up on a whim. The multi-shade gray palette is the perfect stage for layering and pairing of textures and materials. The renovation called for raising roof to add clerestory windows for light, creating a dramatic ceiling in living room. Pecky cypress paneling and beams introduce volume and warmth. The added height accommodates the owner’s cherished antique doors that now rest above the mantel and a chandelier relocated from one of her retail shops. A new archway enhances the home’s grander scale in keeping with the commanding fireplace and antique sideboard and mirror. The dining room table pairs with an upholstered bench and slipcovered chairs in keeping with a casual approach to family meals and entertaining.
